Farmers in Jharkhand Still Waiting for Payments – Is Corruption at Play?
•5 min read

Ranchi, Jharkhand – Farmers are facing a major crisis as many are still waiting for payment six months after supplying their crops to the state government. BJP spokesperson Rafia Naz highlighted the issue, stating it's a clear sign of the government’s inefficiency and lack of sensitivity. Over 36,000 farmers delivered 570,000 quintals of rice, but 9,615 farmers haven't received their dues. There’s widespread suspicion of corruption and irregularities in the payment process, including a major fraud involving over 40 crore rupees in Hazaribagh. This leaves the state’s agricultural system in a critical state with nearly 128 crore rupees currently outstanding. It's a serious situation for Jharkhand’s farming community.
