Jharkhand Announces Retail Liquor Sales Rules 2025
Jharkhand has released the Rules 2025 for the retail sale of liquor, outlining how shops will be allocated and operated. The Department of Prohibition & Excise will oversee the process, ensuring compliance with the Jharkhand Liquor Act 2000 & 2015.
The rules detail shop allocation through an e-lottery system, with applicants needing to submit applications and documents within five days of winning. Groups of shops (1-4) are permitted, requiring a District Magistrate and DC to ensure 100% district coverage. Shop sizes and annual revenue guarantees are also specified.
New provisions include specific rules for model shops – with minimum 50,000 sq ft area, selling only liquor above 2000₹ and a 3.6 lakh ₹ annual license fee.
