Passport Release Hearing in Khunti Scam Case

In a significant development in the Khunti Manrega scam case, the PMLA Special Court heard the plea of IAS Pooja Singhal and her husband, Abhishek Jhakar, seeking passport release for their daughter’s education in the US. The couple requested the court to authorize their passport to facilitate their daughter’s enrollment in a US school. They submitted the plea on May 8th. Pooja Singhal has been in jail for approximately 28 months since her arrest on May 11, 2022, by the ED. Prior to arrest, the ED conducted raids on several locations, including those of her husband Abhishek Jhakar and CA Sumon Kumar Singh, seizing 19.31 crore. The ED has filed chargesheet against Pooja Singhal, Abhishek Jhakar, Sumon Kumar Singh, Khunti District Council Junior Engineer Ram Vinod Sinha, Assistant Engineer Rajender Jain, Executive Engineer Jay Kishor Chaudhary, and Shashi Prakash.
