Cyber Fraud Victim in Potka, Jharkhand – ₹1.9 Lakh Stolen
Local Man Loses ₹1.9 Lakh to Cyber Criminals
A resident of Potka, Jharkhand, has fallen victim to a sophisticated cyber fraud. देवेंद्र Mahukud, residing in the 'Haota' area, reported that ₹1.9 lakh was fraudulently withdrawn from his bank account. The perpetrators gained access to his phone number and executed the theft.
The scam unfolded after Mahukud’s Jio mobile number was deactivated on June 28th, allegedly due to an outdated Aadhar card. He subsequently updated his Aadhar details at a Jio showroom in Haldipokhar and a cyber cafe in Ghamaria. However, despite the Aadhar update, the fraud occurred on July 7th, with 26 unauthorized withdrawals totaling ₹1.9 lakh from his SBI account at the Rairangpur branch.
Mahukud has filed a written complaint with the Potka Police Station, and Station In-charge Manoj Kumar Murmu has assured him of an investigation and necessary action.
