Local Leaders Express Concerns Over Language and Scholarship Issues

Ranchi: A delegation of BJP leaders met with Governor Smt. Satish Varma on Tuesday to discuss several pressing issues. The group, including former Minister Nilkant Singh Munda, Bhanu Pratap Shah, Amar Kumar Bauri, and former MLA Amit Mandal, sought the Governor’s intervention regarding the language controversy surrounding the JETET exam and long-standing scholarship delays for vocational course students. They highlighted the lack of scholarship benefits for students studying in these courses and expressed concerns about the removal of Mundari, a language tied to the legacy of Birsa Munda, from the JETET exam.

The leaders criticized the Jharkhand government's handling of language policies, arguing that the removal of Mundari and other regional languages from the JETET exam was disrespectful to the state’s rich cultural heritage. They also voiced frustration over the ongoing delays in scholarship disbursements for students enrolled in बीएड and other professional courses. Specific instances of the removal of Bhojpuri and Angika from the exam were cited as examples of the government’s apparent disregard for local dialects. Calls for parity with the Kurmaili language, previously removed under the BJP administration, were also made. The delegation emphasized the need for equitable treatment and urged the Governor to address these concerns.
