Ranchi City Council Reviews Infrastructure Project Delays
Ranchi City Council Addresses Infrastructure Project Delays
The Ranchi City Council convened a review meeting to tackle delays in key infrastructure projects across the city. Principal Secretary of the Department of Urban Development and Housing, Sunil Kumar, emphasized the importance of setting timelines for all projects to ensure citizens receive timely benefits. The focus is on completing projects like sewage treatment plants, pipeline installations, and प्रधानमंत्री आवास योजना (Prime Minister Housing Scheme) with strict adherence to schedules.
During the meeting, concerns were raised regarding land acquisition issues and approvals from the Forest Department, which have stalled projects such as the Dhanbad piped water supply scheme and the Ramgarh piped water supply scheme. Kumar directed a senior officer to be appointed as the nodal officer at the headquarters level to resolve land availability issues by coordinating with District Magistrates. Furthermore, he instructed stringent action against agencies exhibiting delays and considered termination of contracts for non-performance.
Emphasis was also placed on maintaining cleanliness and addressing potential flooding during the monsoon season, including clearing stormwater drains. Key officials, including Ranchi Municipal Corporation Administrator Sandeep Singh and Special Secretary Manohar Mardi, were present.
