Ranchi: Overdue MGNREGA Payments to Be Disbursed Within Weeks
MGNREGA Workers to Receive Backdated Wages
Good news for over 5,000 MGNREGA workers in Jharkhand! All outstanding wages, which have been accruing since March, are set to be paid out within the next 6-7 weeks. The MGNREGA Commissioner confirmed that funds have been received from the center, addressing a long-standing issue. Furthermore, accounts are being established for Employee Provident Funds (EPF) and proposals for health insurance and term insurance have been sent to the Finance Department, a long-awaited demand.
This development follows a recent agreement between the MGNREGA workers’ union and the Rural Development Department, spearheaded by former Minister Dr. Irfan Ansari. Additionally, a Time Motion Study, currently implemented in only seven states, is being rolled out in Jharkhand, leading to a revised assessment of manpower days from 73 CFT to 50 CFT, potentially unlocking an additional ₹1,000 crore for the Rural Development Department.
