Ranchi Residents Demand Investigation into Sports Department Tender

Local residents are outraged by allegations of corruption within the Jharkhand Sports Department, following a controversial tender process that involved a ₹6 crore deal. Leader of the Opposition, Babu Lal Marandi, has raised serious questions on social media, targeting Sports Minister Sudhivy Sonu. Marandi and MP Deepak Prakash have also criticized the minister, accusing the Hemant Soren government of widespread irregularities and a culture of corruption in tender processes. The controversy surrounds the procurement of sports kits for players, with a tender process resulting in a contract being awarded to a company offering higher prices than the lowest bidder. The initial bidding saw Sports India at ₹16,999, Shiv नरेश at ₹21,999, and L-Three Company at ₹25,600. Despite this, the L-Two company, Shiv नरेश, received the contract to supply the kits. While Director of Sports, Sandeep Kumar, claims no irregularities occurred, citing a QCBC method that awarded L-Two 88 points compared to L-One’s 83, the accusations of corruption and financial mismanagement continue to fuel public anger.
