Shashi थरूर Leads Successful Multilateral Diplomacy Efforts
India's Diplomatic Push: A Report
Congress MP Shashi थरूर led a five-nation delegation on a mission to clarify India’s position following Operation Sindhure. The trip aimed to engage with the international community. The delegation visited Guyana, Panama, Colombia, Brazil, and Washington D.C. (USA). Meetings were held with presidents, prime ministers, senior officials, and key stakeholders, including US सांसदों, policy-makers and media. Notably, Colombia shifted its stance after meeting with the delegation. The team successfully conveyed India’s position, emphasizing that it would not accept mediation in cases involving terrorism.
Key discussions revolved around India's position regarding Pakistan-related incidents and a firm rejection of any unsolicited mediation. थरूर used analogies – 'If you keep a snake in your house, it will only scare your enemies' – to underscore the gravity of the situation. The delegation actively countered misinformation, particularly regarding US perceptions.
