Ranchi Panchayat Department in Crisis: Key Officials Missing

Ranchi – The Panchayat Raj Department in Jharkhand is currently facing a major crisis with two key officials – the Principal Secretary and Director – absent. Vinay Kumar Choubey, the Principal Secretary, has been arrested in connection with a liquor scam and is currently in jail, leaving the department without leadership. The Director’s position has been vacant for over a month, with the previous Director, Nisha Uraon, having returned to her parent department on April 9th.
This has stalled crucial work within the department, including the implementation of PESA rules and other vital procedures. Despite the absence of leadership, the department remains operational on a basic level, carrying out routine tasks. The situation highlights a significant challenge for the Jharkhand government’s efforts in rural development and governance.
