XLRI Jamshedpur Graduates Receive Skills Training, Empowering Underserved Youth
Local Youth Gain Valuable Skills Through XLRI Program
Jamshedpur – XLRI Jamshedpur recently celebrated the graduation of the 4th batch from the Fr. McGrath Skill Development Centre, marking a significant achievement in empowering young people from underserved communities. The six-month training program equipped 35 individuals with essential livelihood skills, including computer skills and data entry, garment and fashion designing, and plumbing and electrical wiring.
The program’s success is highlighted by the trainees' newfound confidence and potential employment opportunities. Keynote speakers, including Fr. Donald D’Silva and Fr. S. George, emphasized the importance of education and mentorship in unlocking potential. Several graduates have already secured jobs, including with India Post, while others are exploring entrepreneurial paths.
Trainees shared their personal journeys of transformation and gratitude, further showcasing the program's impact. A cultural performance capped off the event, celebrating the graduates' achievements. The Fr. McGrath Skill Development Centre’s renaming, in honour of the late Fr. McGrath, reflects a commitment to dignity of labor and community development.
